Aims
Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a logical way of designing innovative, distributed software systems by providing value-adding services either to end-user applications or to other services distributed in the Internet, via published and discoverable interfaces. In short, SOA is a popular software development paradigm for developing, deploying and governing novel commercial servicified (Big) products. This course emphasizes the development of innovative, data-intensive software services for enterprises. The specific topics of the course includes 1) SOA, 2) business process management, 3) Web services, 4) Cloud services, and 5) current topics in SOA (RESTful services and APIs, microservices, serverless computing, and service-oriented IoT).
 
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
  • Distinguish between the types and properties of software services
  • Distinguish between the approaches to implement software services
  • Design service-oriented solutions for integrating processes and data in enterprises
  • Explain, justify and apply the best practices, design principles and patterns in developing service-oriented  solutions
  • Implement designed service-oriented solutions using software technologies
  • Evaluate the designs of solutions in terms of operational requirements and quality criteria for enterprises
 
Specifics
 
The courses from the Data Science and Entrepreneurship program require specific prior knowledge. It is only possible to participate in this course if approved by the admission committee and if you are enrolled for the program.
