At the end of the course students will be able to:
- Apply the basic conventions of academic English writing (structure, vocabulary, tone) in own writing;
- Communicate research ideas and findings clearly and effectively;
Discuss recent theories and models in the domain of cognitive science, artificial intelligence, and data science.
Students are expected to attend 5 CSAI talks featuring local and guest researchers and to write short summaries of the content of these talks that will be collected in a single summary portfolio. Next to that, they write 5 summaries based on clusters of articles pertaining to recent controversies and discussions in the field. The summaries in the portfolio will be graded based on their structure, the use of scientific terminology, and academic English.
The final grade will be the average grade of 10 individually written summaries (5 talks and 5 article clusters).
