Aims
  • To understand and work with key economic concepts and indicators, especially related to the current Covid-19 crisis.
  • To identify, describe and explain economic and labour market policy responses from public and private actors at national and local levels, especially related to the current Covid-19 crisis.
  • To enhance knowledge and skills in designing adequate policies in a multi-actor and multi-level governance setting, in the case of employment services for job seekers and employers, especially related to the current Covid-19 crisis.

 

Test information:
Individual assignment: a country analysis of the economic impact of the Covid-19 crisis and the subsequent economic policy responses – 60% of grade.
Group assignment: developing and presenting an optimal design through teamwork for adequate employment services for job seekers and employers in a multi-actor and multi-level governance setting – 40% of grade.
Content
In the academic year 2020/2021 this master course will focus on the redesign of the Dutch public employment services
Students will study its current setting and performance, investigate its deficits and flaws, also by communicating with various public and private stakeholders (UWV, municipalities, private labor market intermediaries, regional economic boards, employer organizations, trade unions, Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment et cetera).
Experts from the various organizations involved will give interactive guest presentations and interviews 
If possible site visits will be organized
The aim is to develop a redesign of the public employment services and present this to the various stakeholders.
