Aims
To acquire insight into the principles of experimental research and apply the analysis of variance (ANOVA) methods to analyze data obtained with experimental research.
 
Content
  • One-way analysis of variance;
  • Contrasts and posthoc tests;
  • Two-way analysis of variance;
  • ANCOVA;
  • Repeated measures analysis of variance;
  • Within- and between-subjects designs.
An obligatory part of the course is the participation in and succesful completion of assignments on the computer using SPSS. There are three sessions with different assignments. The SPSS practica need to be completed in the year in which one follows this course.

TESTING 
The final grade is determined using the exam grade and the average midterm grade. In two lectures students will complete a midterm test. The average midterm grade is the average of the grades on the two midterm tests. 
The final grade is determined as follows. If the exam grade is higher than the average midterm grade, then the final grade equals the exam grade, else the final grade equals (2*exam grade + average midterm grade)/3.
For the retake, the average midterm grade also counts, but each midterm cannot be retaken. After the course year, the average midterm grade does no longer count.
